The Anne Scan which was arrested by customs with a cargo of 120 million cigarettes on the 26th October 2009. the haul, with a potential revenue loss of €40m, was destined for the Irish and UK markets. Regarded as the biggest seizure of its type in Europe and described as organised crime on a global scale, the contraband was uncovered after a chartered ship arrived at 6am on Monday at Greenore Port Dundalk. She was then escorted to Dublin port by the customs launch Faire and the cargo examined.
