Here is a Quarantine Service book belonging to my late Dad Thomas O Connell from Youghal. He had this book when he was on the Irish Oak as you can see from the bottom right hand corner he sailed on her in 1964.

I sailed on the IRISH OAK I think it was early 1963, we went up the Great  Lakes, I enjoyed this trip the best, lots of overtime.
We picked up the new  Diesel Trains for CIE. They had five of the engines as deck cargo, when we  were sailing through Lake Superior we hit a bad winter storm the seas were breaking on the deck and freezing in the cargo the crew spent the night  breaking the ice off the riggings and engines. Very exciting".
